Summary

Founded in 2001, easyMarkets is one of the most innovative brokers in the industry.  Offering trading on six different instruments, including Forex, commodities, indices, metals, shares, and cryptocurrencies, easyMarkets was also the first broker to introduce negative balance protection and a guaranteed stop-loss. easyMarkets has continued to innovate with tools such as easyTrade, Freeze Rate, and dealCancellation to help traders reduce their losses.

A well-regulated market maker with no dealing desk intervention, easyMarkets provides traders with fixed spread, commission-free accounts on MT4 and its own easyMarkets platform and mobile app. Spreads are wider than the industry average on accounts with lower minimum deposits but are competitive on its VIP account.

Educational and market analysis materials are comprehensive and well-structured, making it a good choice for beginner traders.  Malaysian clients will also be pleased to note that easyMarkets offers Islamic swap-free accounts.

Is easyMarkets Safe?

The Company was established in 2001 and is headquartered in Limassol, Cyprus, with offices in Shanghai, Sydney, and Warsaw.  It is regulated by numerous authorities, including the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC), the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), the Financial Services Authority (FSA) Seychelles, and the British Virgin Islands Financial Services Commission (BVI FSC).  See below for a list of registered companies:

  • Easy Forex Trading Ltd is regulated by CySEC, license: 079/07, which has been passported in the European Union through the MiFID Directive.
  • Easy Markets Pty Ltd is regulated by ASIC license: 246566.
  • Easy Markets Pty Ltd is regulated by the FSA Seychelles, license number SD056.
  • Easy Markets Pty Ltd is regulated by the BVI FSC, license number SIBA/L/20/1135.

With numerous industry awards and recognition for their innovation (Best Forex Trading Innovation – FxScouts 2020) and (Most Innovative Broker – World Finance Markets Awards 2018), transparency (Most Transparent Broker – Forex-Awards 2017), best overall broker (Best Forex Broker – The Forex Expo – Dubai 2019) and trading platform (Best Trading Platform – FX Empire 2017), easyMarkets are well-respected by their peers and clientele.

easyMarkets awards

easyMarkets states that its values are simplicity, honesty, and transparency, and the internal processes at easyMarkets reflect this approach.

  • All client funds are kept in segregated accounts at top-tier banks around the world. The segregation of client funds ensures that only clients have access to these funds and cannot be used in company operations.
  • easyMarkets is frequently audited by its regulators and uses these opportunities to identify areas of potential risk in their operations, ensuring constant improvement of internal processes.
  • easyMarkets also maintain Capital Adequacy to cover all client deposits and running costs as an additional line of defense from any economic effects on the company or its portfolio of positions.

Note that Malaysians are regulated under the BVI FSC but are subject to the same regulatory conditions offered to traders under other subsidiaries, including negative balance protection and segregation of client funds.

Due to robust internal processes, respected industry recognition, and strong regulation from two primary international regulators, our view is that easyMarkets is safe for traders.

Trading Conditions

easyMarkets offers trading on six different instruments, including Forex, commodities, indices, metals, shares, and cryptocurrencies.  Offering trading on three live commission-free accounts and a demo account, traders can choose between two different platforms – MetaTrader 4 and the easyMarkets platform.  Minimum deposits start at 25 USD, and leverage is up to 400:1 on the MT4 platform and 200:1 on the easyMarkets platform.  Minimum transactions start at 0.01 lots on the MT4 platform and 70 USD on the easyMarkets App.  Spreads are fixed across all account options, starting at 0.9 pips on the EUR/USD.

easyMarkets allows hedging and scalping, but not copy-trading. Clients will experience no slippage on the easyMarkets app, but slippage can occur on the MT4 platform. Furthermore, clients using the proprietary platform are guaranteed a stop loss, but not on the MT4 platform.  Accounts are denominated in 18 currencies, but unfortunately, not the Malaysian Ringgit (MYR). Lastly, Malaysians will be pleased to note that easyMarkets provides special trading accounts which adhere to Islamic law (Sharia). As such, when traders extend their day-trading deals to the next day, no rolling/renewal fee is charged. Accordingly, the maximum duration offered for day-trading deals is limited to 14 days.

Trading Tools

easyTrade

Allows traders to set the maximum amount you are comfortable risking, to set a time limit on your trades, and set the price of the market you are trading at the time.

dealCancellation

A first in the industry, dealCancellation allows traders to trade risk-free.  Traders are charged a fixed fee to use this service but can cancel unfavourable trades within one, three, or six hours after the trade is executed.  The fee calculation is based on the realised volatility of the selected product.  The dealCancellation choices may vary based on the instrument selected.

Freeze Rate

Freeze Rate is a unique tool allowing traders to freeze the prices they see.  It gives one a buffer of a few seconds to perform a trade.

Mobile Trading Apps

MetaTrader4 (MT4) and the easyMarkets platform are also available on IOS, Android, and Windows mobile phones and tablets. The app will connect to the same account as the desktop software, keeping the trading experience synchronised, and traders mobile.

Evaluation Method

We value transparency and openness in the way we review the partners. To bring transparency to the forefront, we have published our review process that includes a detailed breakdown of the easyMarkets offering. Central to that process is the evaluation of the reliability of the broker, the platform offering of the broker, and the trading conditions offered to clients, which are summarised in this review. Each one of these is graded, and an overall score is calculated and assigned to the broker.
